A Literary Waterways’ Tour: flowing words and ‘liquid history’

Speaker: Mark Davies

Oxford local historian, author and tour guide

The waterways of ‘river-rounded’ Oxford feature in innumerable works of literature, from Chaucer’s pilgrims to Jerome’s ‘Three Men’ and Tom Brown’s higher education, via the children’s classics of Alice and Wind in the Willows. Recently, Philip Pullman’s ‘gyptians’ have joined this historically informative list; and Town; Gown affrays are inevitable! The AGM will precede this talk at 7pm.
